The administrative meeting of the Board of Supervisors, held in the Township Building, was called to order at 8:10 a.m. by Chairman Kenneth Miller; also in attendance were Supervisors Zoë Perkins and Karl Brachwitz and Township Manager Allen Heist.
Gregory and Rita Stevens of Senior LifeChoice Retirement Living Services and Martin Kimmel, Kimmel Bogrette Architecture and Site Inc. were present to review a village concept retirement community sketch plan on the 24.8 acre Ordway property, Conestoga Road east of Pottstown Pike and the adjacent 13.435 acre Borst property, Black Horse Road. The properties are zoned R-2 with a mobile home park overlay on the Ordway tract. The plan consists of 72 single family cottages (36 duplex units), a three-story condominium consisting of 60 apartments, and a three-story medical facility of 70 units; 19.882 acres or 52% of the tract is proposed open space. An on-site community spray or drip irrigation sewage system and public water are considered. The Planning Commission will review the sketch plan at their September 16th meeting.
Board members reviewed the building plans for the Municipal Complex submitted by Cathers & Associates, Inc.; a revised site plan will be requested. The $29,650 check received from Columbia Transmission for acquisition of the existing pipeline right-of-way will be transferred from the General Fund to the Township Building Fund to finance the landscaping at the municipal complex.
Manager Heist will contact PennDOT regarding the newly installed signs in the vicinity of 1621 and 1645 Birchrun Road. Mrs. Perkins reported these signs project into the roadway and she expressed concerns regarding school bus or large truck traffic safety.
